The hardest part for me was that meeting . Because Will very much was like , " Oh , yeah , I ’m totally up for it , " just right away , which I know now he was very unsafe , and it was really irritating and injurious for him .
But I did n’t love that . And he was so queer , and such an amazing worker , and was so , like , " Yeah , sure , that ’s no job , that ’s o.k. for me , " and for me , it was more like , " Oh , wow … " No one had said anything to me about it .
So I remember thinking , " Wow , these hoi polloi think I ’ve gain enough weight we have to write an full sequence about my weight gain , and right now I have to say I ’m fine with it because they did n’t even present to me another option . And even if they did , I probably would n’t have felt comfortable being like yeah , I do n’t want to do that . "
And then that was just in my pass forever .

The Behind-The-Scenes Story And The Episode Itself Are Problematic
The product meeting that lead " She ’s have My Baby Back Ribs " already made thisBoy Meets Worldepisodeproblematic . The producers should never have created an episode free-base on the premise of their actors gain weight unit , permit alone without the actors ' consent . The instalment itself has alsoaged ill for how the story handles the sensitive topic , mostly using it to demean Topanga and Eric for strictly comedic aim , and to create the misconception that Topanga is pregnant .
All these moments are grossly oversimplified , and made worse by sleep together that Fishel and Friedle were give no choice but to address their bodies as a joke in Boy Meets World .
The sequence ’s ending briefly attempts to disturb on body positivity and multifariousness whenTopanga revealsthat she was never meaning and that this all take off because she feel self - conscious about the weight she gained . This leads other characters to let in the insecurity they have about their bodies as well , along with Mr. Feeny speak about unrealistic social expectations . Unfortunately , this isquickly undermined by doubling down on fat jokes about Eric , who say Topanga is not fat and that he only told her she was so he could steal her pizza , all while shoveling solid food into his sassing .
In this coming-of-age sitcom, Cory Matthews navigates middle and eventually high school, exploring his relationships with his friends and family and learning life lessons along the way.
When Jack reveals that he is only obsessive about being fit because he was called"Jumbo Jack"in high school , Eric collapse out laughing and teases him for the nickname , which is tonally jarring , while Topanga and other character admit their insecurities . sooner in the episode , Alan Matthews refers to Eric as"Porky"and Eric deadbolt out of the family when he hears the Mr. Softee truck run by . All these moment are grossly oversimplified , andmade worse by know that Fishel and Friedle were given no choicebut to treat their bodies as a put-on inBoy Meets World .
