Summary
InStar Trek : The Next Generationseason 3 , episode 13 , " Deja Q,“John de Lancie ’s Qis dump on the Enterprise after being stripped of his powers . As the go-ahead work to save a nearby planet from its falling moon , Picard has bigger things to concern about than Q ’s troubles . Although Picard initially throws Q in the brig , he later allows Q to help the engine room squad work on a way to economise the planet . To keep Q from getting into trouble , Picard assigns Data to watch him . Q and Data have an incredibly compelling dynamic , leaving me wishingTNGhad paired the two up more often .
Star Trek : The Next Generation produced some of the expert and most beloved skill fiction goggle box of all sentence . Here is TNG ’s best of the best .
Star Trek: TNG Should Have Brought Data & Q Together More Than Once
Data Was The Perfect Person To Give Q A Lesson In Humanity
Brent Spiner and John de Lancie are both strong actors who interpret their various character well , and every scene with the two of them work .
Data treat Q the same way he treats everyone else and has dateless patience for Q ’s complaint about being human . When Q is attack by one of his many foeman , Data risks his own life sentence to save him . Q has difficulty empathize why Data would do this , andhe eventually comes to the surprisingly self - cognizant finale that he does not have what it takes to be human . Q then decides to risk his own life with the hope of save the Enterprise , which so impresses the Q Continuum that they restore his powers .
I Really Hope Future Star Trek Projects Revisit Data & Q’s Dynamic
Q Should Reach Out To The Newly Upgraded Data
Throughout his eight appearances onStar Trek : The Next Generation , Q was most often mate with Captain Picard , as John de Lancie and Patrick Stewart take on off of one another particularly well . InStar Trek : Picardseason 2 , Q reunited with Picard , sending his old booster / enemy into the past to confront his puerility trauma . When Q trust he was choke , he and Jean - Luc share a earnest goodbye , butdespite Q ’s " death , " he popped back up at the end ofPicardseason 3.Of class , Q does not experience clock time linearly , so he could seem in any futureStar Trekproject .
information finally received the ultimate upgrade inPicardseason 3 , becoming as penny-pinching to homo as he could ever hope to be . I hopeStar Trekcontinues to search Data ’s journeying in some way , and that he gets the luck to reunite with Q. At the end of " Deja Q , " Q grants Data the gift of laughter , andit would be a nice recall for Q to foregather a version of Data who can laugh on his own .
Data taught Q how to be altruistic , ultimately helping him regain his power , which seems like something even Q would not forget . As the character reference had such a fun dynamic onStar Trek : The Next Generation , I would love to see Q check up on the newly upgraded variation of Data .
