Brendan , how did you get postulate in this projection and can you talk a little bit about what enliven it ?
Brendan Banks : Yeah , dead . Rick Perry : It ’s a mix of , it ’s improbably flattering and sort of mind - blowing and a petty scary , but it was really fun . I mean , as a person who ’s work in film and television set for over 20 years , it was very interesting to be on the other side of the camera and just be work with people who were clear , or being filmed by multitude who are clearly , very skilled at what they ’re doing , but just be the case and not be involved in the production , it was a very interesting process .
And then , during the documentary film you tease thatFantasy High : Junior Yearmight be the biggest seasonD20has done yet , which feel like a crowing call afterBurrow ’s destruction . Can you tantalize a slight mo of what your experience from preceding season you impart to make this season even more impressive ?
Rick Perry : Yeah , I intend , I experience like there ’s been a few veridical high water line over the year in production note value . I think Crown of Candy was a very involved and expansive scope of miniature and things and Burrow ’s End definitely was another high water line . Just the customness and the scale and the reach of what we ’re doing , and just the LED and all the moving parts and things . I think that we maintain that same level of just ambitiousness with Junior Year , and I ’m really activated to see people oppose to it .

And then Rick , can you babble out a little number about the evolution of the production side ofDimension 20from the first time of year withFantasy Highall the way to now going into the 21st time of year withFantasy High : Junior Year ?
Rick Perry : Yeah . Well , we started off with quite a small scope . It was n’t even absolved there was going to be a miniatures ' aspect of it , what the set was and all these sort of things and aboveboard , Dropout has just been a dream to process with the whole time in that deference , because every time that there was a new idea or something that was just over the next hill that if we put effort into and a little bit of funding into , we could make something really cool .
And we ’ve just kept doing that this whole time , so on all the technical levels , we have a new version of the bent now that ’s like a permanent stage set and a permanent space with upgraded projections and LED and the best edition of the board we ’ve had yet , and then we did some vivification and stuff in the Dome on Brosnan . So we just keep follow the whimsey of what feels cool and it ’s going to make the players flip out at the table .
And can you babble out about the collaboration unconscious process with Brennan ?
Rick Perry : Yeah , I have in mind , Brennan is an amazing collaborator . Brennan , his brain is like radioactive seat of Genesis that … He just a joy to work with . He ’s got a great … I suppose you could n’t forge a better GM in sealed ways with his background in LARPing and improv comedy and screenwriting schoolhouse . It ’s a very , very interesting carrefour that just is perfect for this show .
I completely check . And then Brendan coming in from variety of this outside position , what did you find to be the most surprising part of the cognitive process of create theD20maps and miniskirt ?
Brendan bank : Oh , that ’s such a good motion . I think it has to do with sort of the interplay between the care with where the story or the movement is going to go . Where they want to guide it , but also it being this two - handed scenario of needing to leave the door really astray open and reserve people to have play and enjoy or mayhap go through a door they did n’t require . But I really get to hear a muckle about that from Rick and a little bit from Brennan as well . And it was just so fascinating to me that interplay .
I sleep with that . And then Rick , what has it been like to work with some of the other DMs like Matt Mercer , Aabria Iyengar and Jasmine Bhullar , and how ’s it different from working with Brennan ?
Rick Perry : Well , I mean , each DM bring their own skillset , their own areas where they are really , really practiced and they ’re all kind of different and they all have the ways that they generate an idea for a safari or a battle map . Their approach to fib may be completely different . Like Matt comes with really well - developed battle ideas because he clear struggle . It ’s really fun . I think of , those masses are all master at what they do . So it ’s just about getting in a elbow room and sort of pick up a vibration . And they all work otherwise , but they ’re all great at what they do .
And then what has been the softheaded ask that you ’ve vex from a DM , either that you were able-bodied to do or that you maybe turn over down ? Aabria splendidly want to prune a hole in the mesa .
Rick Perry : Yeah , I was just about to say that . Yeah , I have in mind , there ’s all kinds of things . Aabria has always need to cut hole in the board or everybody wants to have water . Rick Perry : I do n’t recognize . I pretend it was interesting and sometimes take exception to balance the ontogeny and output of a season of Dimension 20 , perchance our most elaborate and tangled season ever , while also being the subject of a documentary and wearing a wire , so to speak . And so there were emphatically things that made it more complicated , but I do n’t have it off , it was actually really cool to have these moments of introspection where we sort of break and talk about what was happening . It ’s a little piece like therapy or something possibly where you get to what ’s going on today or how ’s next workweek become to go or whatever . So I do n’t recognise . It was cool .
And then what do you find to be maybe the most fun element of returning to some of these worlds like Spyre or Calorum when you have a season that is a 2d time of year or a twist - off ?
Rick Perry : Well , In some regards , it ’s tricky than a young time of year because we have to get it right . It means that we need to go back and re - watch thing and make spreadsheets of Lore and thing that we need to know things and seek to collar them . Also , we require to service things that were go down up in previous seasons . It ’s a lot of fun though . It really , follow back to … Spyre sort of feels like coming home in a way of life because it was our first season and then the second time of year was the Twitch livestream season , so we did n’t get to ramp up really anything for it . And then we did do The Seven , but that was until Spyre . So this is like we ’re doing miniature , we ’re back in Spyre . There ’s a novel DM screen . It was very exciting .
I sleep with that . And then one of my favorite moment in the documentary was at the end when we got to see you and your team kind of play D&D together with your own Box of Doom . I ’m singular , do you guys in the main play field of the intellect because your job is to work up the sets , or do you want to make the sets for your own game ?
Rick Perry : I would love to make sets for my own games . I run a game for my oldest kid and some of the neighbourhood minor , and I assay to have miniskirt and I definitely wish using the , I like that tabletop war gaming aspect of D&D. It ’s really fun to me . I experience like it crop really well . But yeah , just I do n’t have the time , bandwidth to do anything nearly as detailed for my home base games , regrettably .
