Summary
House of the Dragondirector Geeta Vasant Patel addresses why the season 2 finale,“The Queen Who Ever Was , " does not culminate in a massive battle . From new dragonriders to a new alliance with the Triarchy , the Blacks and the Greens were expanding their forces , butHouse of the Dragonseason 2 endedbefore the violence escalated to newfangled meridian . The instalment ’s last shots feature a thrilling collage of these various forces being arrayed and heading to warfare , bug epic conflict to come that will now not be see until the serial publication returns for season 3 .
I frankly did n’t know what to anticipate . I did n’t know if it would be a battle or something else . I probably expected a battle , just as a buff . Then when I translate the script , I was pleasantly surprised and felicitous , because I imagine we put too much on battles . I guess what ’s really interesting about this sequence is that it ’s about relationships . It ’s the dialogue , the twirl and good turn , the family relationship between Daemon and Rhaenyra , and Rhaenyra and Alicent .
For me , it was quite electrifying to focus on the dramaturgy . I have sex that . I was excited to dig deeply with this . I by all odds felt the challenge if the great unwashed are expecting a big conflict , how is this going to vie with it ? But having done episode 8 from time of year 1 , I recognise that if we execute the book it would be howling .

The House Of The Dragon Season 2 Finale Worked Well Without A Massive Battle
The Finale Prioritizes Character Development Over Spectacle
Now that all these characters know where they stand up with each other and have put the uncomfortable truths out into the open , the action can proceed as needed in House of the Dragon season 3 .
The finale ultimately did not need to end with a struggle as it culminatedHouse of the Dragonseason 2 ’s marrow graphic symbol arcsin a satisfying fashion . The tension building between many of the serial ' key family relationship boil over as the characters confront and say difficult truths , including in the relationship of Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen , Rhaenyra and Alicent Hightower , Alyn of Hull and Corlys Velaryon , and Ser Criston Cole and Ser Gwayne Hightower . A conflict would not have worked if the unsolved tensity and its consequences were left push aside , which would have made many time of year 2 arc feel uncompleted .
After nearly an entire time of year of separation between Daemon and Rhaenyra , andDaemon ’s sight at Harrenhal , he want to choose once and for all whether he would choose Rhaenyra or prosecute his own call to the Iron Throne . ease up all the guarded interactions between Alyn and Corlys , they needed to finally be true with each other . This was peculiarly crucial for Alyn , as Corlys could not infer what Alyn endured as a small fry , and why he was now reluctant to take his founder ’s generosity .

Alyn of Hull has been a mysterious side character in House of the Dragon season 2 thus far , but his parentage has finally been confirmed .
The long and complicated chronicle between Rhaenyra and Alicent , and the latter ’s desperation to fix her misapprehension also require to be decent address , as did Gwayne ’s bitterness toward Cole , and Cole ’s seemingly inhuman actions . Now thatall these character know where they stand with each otherand have put the uncomfortable truths out into the open , the legal action can go forward as involve inHouse of the Dragonseason 3 . The show sprucely prioritize its fictitious character and the narrative stakes over simply delivering spectacle .
